The Kerala backwaters are a chain of brackish lagoons and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast (known as the Malabar Coast) of Kerala state in southern India. The network includes five large lakes linked by canals, both manmade and natural, fed by 38 rivers, and extending virtually half the length of Kerala state. The backwaters were formed by the action of waves and shore currents creating low barrier islands across the mouths of the many rivers flowing down from the Western Ghats range. Day 01 | Arrive Trivandrum
You will be met on your arrival at Trivandrum International Airport and transferred to the hotel of your choice, in Kovalam, famous for it’s sun drenched beaches, located only 15 kms from Trivandrum airport. The city is gateway to one of the most beautiful states in India –Kerala, and is the start point of your Kerala tour. Overnight in Kovalam.
Day 02 | In Kovalam
Breakfast at the hotel followed by a sightseeing tour of Trivandrum visiting -Sri Padmanabha Swamy temple, Kuthiramalaika Royal Palace Museum, Napier Museum and Sree Chitra Art Gallery. Overnight in Kovalam.
Day 03 | Kovalam - Houseboat
After breakfast, depart for Alleppey by road (170kms /04 hrs) to board houseboat for overnight cruise in the backwaters of Kerala. Cruise takes you through the palm fringed canals and is a unique way to discover Kerala. Evening candlelit dinner on board houseboat. The night spent on the Houseboat will long be remembered by you as the highlight of your Kerala tour package. Overnight on board the Houseboat.
Day 04 | Houseboat-Kumarakom
After breakfast, disembark the houseboat in Kumarakom and check in to the Backwater resort of your choice for another unique experience. Overnight at the Resort.
Day 05 | Kumarakom - Periyar[140 kms /4 hrs]
After breakfast, depart for Periyar by road. The Periyar Wildlife sanctuary is one of the best maintained wildlife sanctuaries in Southern India, giving an opportunity of spotting elephants, leopards, tigers and bisons, amongst various other species of flora and fauna. On your arrival in Periyar check into the Resort of your choice. Overnight at the Resort.
Day 06 | In Periyar
Early morning boat ride on Periyar lake to watch wildlife. After breakfast a short jungle trek with a naturalist to watch flora, fauna and avifauna. Overnight at the Resort.
Day 07 | Periyar - Munnar[110 kms /4 hrs]
After breakfast, depart for Munnar by road. Munnar is one of the most beautiful Hill stations of Kerala, famed for its manicured tea plantations and quiet colonial atmosphere. On your arrival in Munnar check into the hotel of your choice. Overnight in Munnar.
Day 08 | In Munnar
Breakfast at the Hotel. Day at leisure. Overnight in Munnar.
Day 09 | Munnar – Cochin [150 kms /4 ½ hrs]
After breakfast, depart for Cochin by road. Cochin or Kochi (new name) is the palm green commercial capital of Kerala, and the last stop of your Kerala tour. On your arrival in Cochin check into the hotel of your choice. Evening watch spectacular Kathakali dance show. Overnight in Cochin.
Day 10 | In Cochin
Breakfast at the hotel followed by a sightseeing tour of Cochin visiting - St. Francis Church, Mattancherry Palace, Jewish Synagogue and the Chinese fishing nets. Overnight in Cochin.
Day 11 | Depart Cochin
Breakfast at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure in Cochin until transfer to the International Airport intime to board your flight home.
